When I was 42 years old, my vision for reading started to deteriorate. Since then I've depended on "readers" and, not being the most organized and meticulous person, I avoided expensive prescription glasses and opted for drugstores and dollar stores. That being said, I can't tell you how many readers I've bought over the years. Averaging about a hundred at a cost of $10-15, you get the idea. I spent a fortune on cheap glasses! Everything changed with the advent of CliC. I wore two. My first pair lasted two years before I lost them. They are difficult to destroy. Now I have a blue pair. If you're prone to losing your glasses, that's amazing - you just take them off and they fall around your neck. Plus, expect plenty of nosy questions and friendly slaps on the back from people wanting to let you know your glasses are broken! The quality of the lenses is very good. Some dollar store models use cheap plastic that's poorly calibrated, and after wearing them for a while can give you a serious headache. No problem with Clis! I would give it 5 stars except that putting it on and taking it off when shopping with your hands full is more difficult than regular glasses. I like to use the head as a stand for glasses - sort of like a headband, and that's not what this guy is for. I miss this comfort. I only wear them to read. When I go shopping and need to read price tags, I have to keep them on all the time so they have to rest on my nose so I can see normally otherwise. I have longer hair too, so be sure to tie the strap under the hair at the back or your hairdo will look tight! Small adjustment indeed! So there is a kind of compromise. If you are a casual reader and reader user, you might find these CliCs a bit uncomfortable. On the other hand, if you're constantly losing your points, then that's also terribly cumbersome and expensive, and CliC will solve that problem for you. They are strong, not fragile at all, and you don't have to worry about falls. If you like wearing long earrings or metal chains, your glasses will SOMETIMES attach to the metal. If you're rather shy, they might start a conversation! I call them my CSI goggles when I realize one of the show's coroners wears glasses!
