If you're used to pouring your coffee with paper, plan on using a metal mesh filter to get a steamed coffee - the water just seeps through. Burnt, hollow taste. Except for very fine coffee grounds, plan for the water to go through fairly quickly compared to the paper. The mechanics of using a paper filter with a basket only slightly improve the situation. A cone filter like the one developed for the V60 doesn't fit as well due to the small flat area on the bottom. No wide basket, no Melitta filter. It's just an odd shape - flat compared to a regular cone, tapered compared to a real basket. In general, I love the glass carafe. I was looking for devices that I really like. With my Hario coffee grinder and this one, I don't think a coffee break is that bad. So I'll save that for my pourovers.
