This lens excels as a general purpose option. There were 24-70 2.8 and 70-200 2.8 + Converter lenses available before that. It magnifies2 times and has an aperture of(.)50/1.4. As I do most of my shooting on vacations and in unfamiliar locations rather than in a fixed studio, portability and light weight have become important considerations. I got rid of the zooms and only took the universal, yet I still managed to leave fifty kopecks. This glass is top-notch in every way. In comparison to the 24-70mm lens I was given: Reduced by a third in weight (this is important if the shooting lasts 2-3 hours, the fingers slowly fall off) Big FR, three-stop stub. While the 3.5 version of my copy was "quite sharp," the improvement isn't enough to read by in really dim lighting, which brings up the point that 2.8 is useless. That's it, just a puff. The 24-105mm zoom ring is more congested, yet the luggage compartment remains stable. This new, more manageable hood is a big improvement. The 24-70mm lens improves bokeh to a small but noticeable degree (I repeat at 2.8 there is a little soap, therefore I used it at 3.5) The chroma discount ranges from -$24 to -$70. And at 24-70, there are hardly any barrels at all, despite being quite amenable to editing. There was no evident vignetting there or there that I could see. The corners are neither foamy nor dark; they are only visible at 70-200 (with a converter in twins). If you're ever in a jam, having a stub around can save the day. You'll have a total of 1 minute and 30 seconds to fire off shots at the longest end. Resolution, detail, sharpness, and color accuracy are all top-notch, making for a beautiful final product. Guaranteed to be no worse than 24-70. Yet, both of them complement the 70–200 f/2.8 lens with enhancements. Superior wine glass. In terms of value for money, it's among the best (although for me the question of price when buying was not at all). Many people believe that 24-70mm is the best aperture range. I know I can't win you over. They serve distinct purposes, though. Each individual makes decisions based on what he thinks is in his own self-interest. Its disadvantages cancel out those of being light, having a stub, having a short FR, and being cheap. Well, remedies will aid you if you value superior quality. This level of quality cannot be achieved with a zoom lens. This is why I parted with fifty bucks.
