Review on Asobu 32 oz. Insulated Pour Over Coffee Maker - Double-Wall Vacuum and Stainless-Steel Filter, with Take on the Go Carafe in Mint Green by Lisa Lord

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Mixed packaging is good for kitchen and dining room

Update April 6, 2020: After finding a basic kettle on the stovetop to boil water, I've started using Asobu more regularly to use.- now this everyday. In short - very happy with the result of the coffee making a difference at the end of the day - not obsessed enough to use the scale; just play around a bit to find the right mix. No issues: - fragile jar (just be careful as with ANY jar) - lid too tight (don't over tighten) - general handling (so what if 2 hands are needed!) - heat retention (4 hours of really good heat [ preheated with hot tap water]) Adjusted from 3 (undecided) stars to 5 stars. First Feedback: Reply to others and some of my own comments.1. Heat Preservation - By now we should understand that ALL stainless steel thermos pots need to be preheated to maximum heat. The expression "keeps you warm for x hours" is not the same as "keeps you warm for x hours". deceptive? Yes. False advertising? #2. Break the cap: If the cap is overtightened, it may be difficult to remove. I found the seal adequate without over tightening. My coffee stayed hot for 4 hours and drinkable for 6.3 hours. Agree with comment on form and difficulty of holding/transfusion with drip removed. A handle is not needed, which would ruin the simple elegance of the design. However, the cone at the tip where the pipette is attached could have made handling easier. This is a small carafe and a full carafe will be used up fairly quickly. Although I've come to the same conclusion, the lack of a stylus doesn't really bother me.4. The dropper is made of glass (borosilicate) and the decanter is made of steel, making it more durable/less brittle.5. do i hold it You have to get used to the problems of preparing a pour over. Then you decide.

Pros
  • Useful for more than intended purpose
Cons
  • Packaging is ugly
