Very clean, small and nice phono stage. By all means buy it unless you are using a state of the art system (in which case you should invite me and I'll take it to A/B)! My example was completely unopened and unused, but someone tore off part of the label on the box, possibly removing a sticker or something. In any case, I was glad I bought a used one! And since everyone is talking about bulbs I bought 6 spare bulbs to try swapping out (yes I know I'm a nutcase but they were a good deal) - two NOS Raytheon JAN 5654 Black Plate, 1 good but used Tung Sol 6096 gray plate, 1 NOS GE 5star 6AK5W gray plate and 2 good but used RCA 5654/6AK5 silver plates. and I have to say that the included Chinese 6J1s sound pretty damn good for a new stock tube. I noticed some treble blur and perhaps the soundstage isn't as wide as the Raytheon. I think it's on par with RCA. In any case, I think it sounds great even with Chinese lamps! PS I'm sure I'll be dead in 40 years and some poor chap will throw away the extra tubes but maybe by then the 6J1s are NOS and desirable. so i will wait for her for the 4th backup.
