I have a 3rd Gen Echo Dot that I bought a Z50 for. Supposedly the Dot has a 3 watt speaker and the Z50 has 5 watts RMS, they can double the peak power. Anyway, the Dot speaker is only 1.6 inch while the Z50 is 2.25 inch, but the Dot sound is almost the same as the Z50. In fact, it's very impressive for its size, and some people might prefer it over the Z50. Not me. I like the Z50 because speech is clearer and the dot sounds a bit dull. That's all! Nothing earth shattering. They seem to produce about the same amount of sound, just with different sound quality. [EDIT] The Z50 produces noticeably more sound, and once you tweak the equalizer in the Alexa app, you get acceptable bass for what it is. For the price, this is a good little speaker to connect to a phone or tablet, or an Echo Dot for podcasts. For anyone complaining about static, it's not the speaker, it's your unfiltered electrical output. I connected mine to a UPS and had no static electricity.
