I used this drive part-time for less than 10 months before it completely failed and was no longer recognized by the host computer. Tests showed that the drive was defective, not the machine. Request a warranty replacement under a two-year warranty. I've done this with other record manufacturers with no problems. The problem is that they are REQUIRING me to return the disk to them for analysis. This drive is now filled with sensitive data and since it is no longer recognized by the PC, I have no way of securely erasing the data. The hard drive manufacturer or repair shop will certainly get the data, so as long as the data is in a potentially usable form, I can't give the hard drive away. Although they explained this several times and asked for their advice on how to securely destroy data without physically destroying the drive, they were unwilling to help further. I ended up replacing it with another manufacturer's drive and will no longer use OEMGenuine.
