I bought this specifically for the claimed DIY support. The device works, we are eWeLink and I updated the firmware to 3.3.0. I then put on a DIY jumper and set my AP's SSID to "sonofDiy" and password to "20170618sn" according to the Tasmota docs and nothing I did allowed Sonoff to connect to my AP. I first tried using a Samsung Galaxy S8 mobile hotspot (making sure it was set to 2.4GHz) as well as an 802.11bgn hotspot - neither worked. Also, eWeLink "LAN mode" doesn't work after 5 power on/off. Cycles (if you don't have an internet connection) after which the app says "Updating". and no longer works. So this IoT switch is useless when you have an ISP outage. Be careful: the fact that it works 5 times before stopping (no internet) means Sonoff is stealing your data! Basically, this means we don't prevent you from cutting off communication with our servers in China, so we only allow going "offline" a few times before the Sonoff device needs to "call home".
