Review on ☕ Zojirushi Coffee Maker EC-TC40-TA: Experience Coffee Communication in Brown by Hannah Curi

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good taste, very compact, easy to use

DELIVERY: Arrived (US East Coast) in just 4 days, much faster than expected. TASTE: Plasticy taste at first until I rubbed it down with white vinegar. I've tried the water neat and with coffee grounds and it's fine now. Coffee, both light and dark roasted, turned out to be strong and very aromatic. APPEARANCE, USE AND CLEANING: Beautiful and very compact. I like the transparent water tank. Simply insert a standard #2 paper filter, measure out a few tablespoons of ground coffee, pour water into the tank and turn it on. The heated oven retains the heat. It's easy to see it's still on thanks to the simple power button. EASY CLEANING: Remove the carafe lid, toss the filter/base in the trash and give it a quick rinse. ELECTRICAL COMPATIBILITY: Yes, it is rated for 100V in Japan instead of 110-120V in the US. However, it works perfectly and I haven't seen any real reports of the device overheating in the reviews. I measured the temperature of the water in the carafe at 170F which suggests it brews coffee in the 180-200F range which I would like. It is possible that these devices contain a voltage regulator so that they are not affected by house voltage within reasonable limits, but I cannot guarantee that. My wife was concerned that there is no UL certification on the back. Instead, it has PSE certification, which is a Japanese certification of manufacturing and safety compliance. (Underwriter Labs in the US actually provides PSE certification for products exported to Japan.) If you're still concerned, leave it unplugged when not in use.
