Review on Benway Counted Cross Stitch Van 🎨 Gogh Starry Night Painting - 14 Count, 18.5''x14.57'' by Kelly Caballes

A frustrating template that isn't meant for humans?

I'm guessing this pattern was computer generated without considering how cross stitching works. There are several adjacent areas of the same color, which makes it very difficult to find the start and end point of the embroidery section. One or more isolated stitches of one color are very similar to another color, so similar that I wonder why the two shades weren't simply combined. But the worst is the pattern. The chart is tinted, so it's very difficult to mark it with a pencil or marker to keep its place. Icons of the same hue can look very similar, so I spent a lot more time looking at the chart than doing my own work. In comparison, most of my previous cross stitch kits were Dimensions Gold kits. The Aida fabric had stitched edges which was nice. However, the holes were not as clearly defined as in Charles Kraft's fabric. The embroidery thread was comparable to DMC, perhaps with a slight tendency to curl. The needles were disappointing but I usually prefer to use my own gold needles. I'm an experienced cross stitcher and gave up on this pattern after less than a quarter of it. I will not buy a Benway kit again.
