Review on Powerful 200W Mini Mono Subwoofer Amplifier - Fosi Audio M03: Full-Frequency and Sub Bass Switchable, Perfect for Home Theater & Single Power Subwoofer by Emily Armstrong

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Reliable sub amp for the price but not 300W RMS.

UPDATE: Having used this amp for a few months, although I still think it's good value for money, I have to say that 300w of power is misleading. Typically, amplifiers are rated by their RMS value per channel, while in this case 300W is the peak power, only possible into a 4 ohm load (half that power if you use 8 ohms). That equates to 140-150W RMS into 4 ohms, which will certainly give usable bass when used with a subwoofer, but I've turned the amp off once or twice for clipping under heavy loads. Granted, for this level of bass I should go for a more powerful amp, but it's worth sharing. I had a couple of old car subwoofers in my closet that I hadn't used in years and when I got my hands on the box again I was looking for a way to hook one up in my living room to support my Klipsch RB6 bookshelf to supplement speakers. I've used this Fosi Audio amp with an Infinity Kappa 12″ and a Kicker CVR 12″ (switchable between them) and they both sound solid. The bass boost is low enough to boom through the walls, although this amp's volume is probably 65% in a medium-sized living room, and it's great to have an adjustable crossover. legit and I didn't use a multimeter to test or anything but I will say I don't seem to have a problem getting my subwoofer to good home theater listening levels and it's nice that it's small and doesn't take up much space Place nearby with receiver. I used the subwoofer so heavily that being in a room with it for an hour or two was almost uncomfortable, and the amp never got hotter than a little. This is a good indication of effective performance. Build quality seems pretty good, and I like the volume knob's click action - making it easy to turn it up or down a few clicks and have a tactile sense of precision. One area for improvement would be if the lines on the crossover control were labeled so you know what specific frequency you are crossing at. You can guess, but after a bit of tweaking, sitting on the couch and listening, and then getting up to adjust it, I've got it pretty well tuned. Nothing about the amp feels cheap or rattles when you hold it in your hands, and I love that the rear panel has banana plug/twist speaker terminals instead of cheap spring terminals. Sounds good enough that my wife said, second and switch on another sub." Any time the wife buys audio in the living room, that's a plus. :-) Definitely recommend this to anyone who already A subwoofer and a box looks for an affordable way to power.
