Sounds Good: Amplifier

I bought this to power my Polk Audio PSW505. Polk Audio's integrated amplifier has blown twice in 3 years. Polk Audio charged $250 for a new amp that I already knew was crap. I disconnected the built-in amplifier and connected it to the speaker. It works like a charm. Great deal at $79.99. Happy knocking.

A little helper for my main amplifier.

I bought a Sony BDV-N9200W a few years ago and recently upgraded to STR-DH790. I repurposed speakers from an old setup. As this is a home cinema in a box the amplifier will power the subwoofer but unfortunately the STR-DH790 cannot power the subwoofer. So I bought a 300 watt Fosi M03 subwoofer amplifier to fill the gap while having better speakers and a powered subwoofer. The amplifier is quite small and unobtrusive, but still delivers enough power for the subwoofer. I don't use a crossover as…

Good solution for a blown subwoofer

I have a 20 year old sealed Velodyne 12" subwoofer that failed and sat for several months while I thought of a solution. I could have it fixed (expensive), I could find a replacement panel amp (expensive, hard to find the right size), I could assemble some parts on eBay (not easy), or I could buy a separate amp (expensive, bulky). I despaired. But then I found this amp. It's loud enough for my purposes (living room music, no cinematic explosions), I had it in my hands the next day and it took a

Breathe life into your broken home theater subwoofer!

I'm picky about the audio and video quality. At first I was Leary, but because of the cheap price I took a chance. It turned out to be everything I needed and what I expected from the sound quality. I have an old JBL 12" subwoofer, that was an expensive subwoofer a few years ago. The amp burned out, the subwoofer broke. So instead of throwing away great sound and looking for some sun, I decided to use an amp and bypassing the internal amplifier. I connected the speaker directly to a fosi 300…

Great little amp to build a powered subwoofer for home use.

Lately I've been working on designing my own subwoofer enclosures. Not for cars, but for home use in the basement, garage or living room. I have two competitor amps. One unit for 100W and one for 300W. These are the AIYIMA ones. So needing another 300w unit I decided to try the Fosi brand. Attached are photos of the unpacking. The box is externally identical to the AIYIMA units, but the inside is different enough to tell it's a different brand. The power transformer appears to be of higher…

Powerful amplifier but not reliable

Just received I will update this review in the coming days. It was pretty easy to set up, no instructions required. First thing I noticed was that it would randomly shut down after a few minutes and had to press the power and on button to get it working again. I'm hoping it's because I only connected the left RCA channel since the subwoofer only has one output from the receiver. I've since connected the right side, but it's just an empty wire going nowhere. It seems to stay enabled but doesn't…

Reliable sub amp for the price but not 300W RMS.

UPDATE: Having used this amp for a few months, although I still think it's good value for money, I have to say that 300w of power is misleading. Typically, amplifiers are rated by their RMS value per channel, while in this case 300W is the peak power, only possible into a 4 ohm load (half that power if you use 8 ohms). That equates to 140-150W RMS into 4 ohms, which will certainly give usable bass when used with a subwoofer, but I've turned the amp off once or twice for clipping under heavy…

Did a lot of tests.

***UPDATE*** Added one extra star. It took a lot of tweaking to break in the new subwoofer, but now I can use it all the time. It's still a bit weaker than expected because if I crank it it will trip the (built-in) circuit breaker. It works, but next time I'll use something else. I will be leaving this thing for gaming in the future. *** END OF UPDATE *** So let me start with what I already had and bought. 1) I already had a Denon AVR-S650H with (2) RCA subwoofer outputs 2) It was hard to find…
