Review on Premium Stainless Steel Dog Prong Training Collar for Medium and Large Dogs - Comfort Tips, Plated & Easy-On by Lillian Rodriguez

Looked great until the chain broke.

I bought this heavy duty chain to hold my 1 year old (almost 2) Shepherd/Malamute/Samoyed/Husky mix. He's surprisingly energetic, quite large (around 110-120 pounds) and is constantly dragging me with him, dashing left and right, perhaps trying to triangulate with his nose where the next interesting smell is coming from. He also pounces on people and dogs that we pass, not to bite but to sniff them, like he does to me. He stands on his hind legs (yes, most dogs can't stand on their front legs) to (gently) sniff my face and probably wants to do the same to them. However, people (and small dogs) who don't know him can understandably be alarmed, and I don't want that. Enough people are afraid of dogs already, and I'm not increasing their fear, so I want him to learn to calm down. This seemed to help about 50% of the time, which while not perfect, was a BIG step in the right direction. Once he pulled and somehow split the collar. Not at the clasp but 2 links just separated leaving him without a collar. That's all. He didn't attack anyone, he just came back to me for a treat, but I can't risk it happening again. A regular braided or leather belt will hold up much better. So I have to deduct 2 points for the sudden, unexpected failure.
