I bought these for my daughter for her 13th birthday. She is an aspiring artist and loves all mediums. We had a smaller "starter" kit from another company that was more "childlike" and had more lower quality plastic parts. I think an aspiring artist can use it, but I wouldn't recommend it for younger children unless with adult supervision. There are some very sharp bits as you would expect them to be able to cut and shape the clay. Nice tool set in her art box!
