It works. But you can't reach 10 Gbps speed?

Well, I'm new to all things updating your computer. I have this 2010 Mac Pro with a quad core processor. The installed card works without the need to install drivers or anything else. I use HighSierra. I have connected 2 backup devices with USB 3.0 cables to one portable hard drive and the other to a Thunderbolt/USB 3.0 external hard drive. I then used the correct USB 3.1 cables purchased from Amazon for both. The speeds were the same. FYI, the read and write speed of the Thunderbolt drive was 115 Mbps in both directions. Another USB 3.1 read/write drive had 144 write and 120 read speeds. That's 30 Mbit/s more writing and 40 Mbit/s reading compared to 3.0. Definitely not 10Gbps, but a definite improvement depending on the drive connected. Used the black magic speed test, FYI.
