Review on Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice 2 195/55 R15 85T winter by Jnis Krsli ᠌

Not my best purchase, you could have found something else.

Failed to meet the mark. Previously, I had switched to the German-made alpine Good Year Ultra Grip 7 because of how well it performed in St. Petersburg. This GOODYEAR Ultra Grip Ice 2 was not designed for the +/- swings experienced in St. Petersburg. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this tire as a decent value. I wouldn't advise someone to make a purchase, and I wouldn't even consider it a second time. You're good to go, but drive cautiously)

Pros
  • When the temperature drops below 8 degrees and there is no ice to roll on, roads are typically clear or have only a little covering of snow. Compared to studded tires, this one is quieter, although at speeds beyond 60, you can hear a rumble. The cost of a size 15/205/65 is not excessive. Good traction if the asphalt is brushed.
Cons
  • Wet ice at temperatures about 3 degrees Fahrenheit has poor adhesion to the road, and rolled ice at traffic lights has the same problem. Unskilled drivers risk having their vehicles slip or even spin around and cross into oncoming traffic on roads like these. Wear and roll seem to be more noticeable in mild weather than in freezing conditions. Wear on the tire is consistent with use over two or three seasons. Average usage is now around 0.5 liters higher than it was with the alpine Ultra Grip 7, and roughly 1 liter higher in the summer.
