My car is about 11 years old and I have used several different devices to store their iPhones. Long solo trips where I don't have anyone to navigate with me can be excruciating as I tend to get lost. Instructions from the phone are crucial. I only bought it for one of these trips and it works great. It's significantly cheaper than the brand advertised all over the TV and I daresay it does what it does without all the different cups. It has three pads hidden inside the halter body that protrude at different angles to accommodate different cup sizes. Easy to twist and easy to insert into the cop holder and just as easy to remove. Holds the phone well and securely. I would recommend.
