Why do you need this? Because Apple has decided that the connector on the MacBook Air should be slightly smaller than on the MacBook Pro. There's also a fifth pin on the Air connector, but obviously that doesn't do anything significant as you can just plug this five-pin adapter into a four-pin connector and it works great. This change was completely unnecessary. But if you live (or work) in a place with both types of MacBooks (like me), this can be quite handy as it allows people with different sized ports to use the same port. Charger. I just wish they would attach some kind of bow to it so I could wear it around my neck as a piece of jewelry. Otherwise, size is an issue - if you just toss it in your change pocket, it's easy to lose. (I say this from experience.) If you have to put it in some sort of container, it becomes less convenient to always have it with you. You can't just leave it hanging in the air while someone else is using the charger as it could get knocked over and you'd lose it. (Again, I'm saying that from experience.) Actually, I think there's still something they could do to improve it. You can sell it in packs of three, so you might lose one or two and still have one left.
