My partner and I recently replaced our mattress with a Medium-Firm memory foam mattress vs. a soft coil mattress and as we were told by many, it would take some time to get used to not only the firmness but the material as well. It was evident the advice was correct, so we decided to get this may be a good option.Unfortunately, this topper is definitely not "extra thick" as described and what we could have preferred. I would say that it is a medium-light level, so for anyone who wants something 'poofier' and thicker, this may not be the option for you. This one came in a vacuum sealed package and did require a little poofing and some air-time before I put a top sheet on. As far as time to poof goes, it didn't take too long to reach the maximum fill and though I haven't noticed it necessarily flatten over the last month or so of use, I do give it some poofing and airtime before the fitted sheet goes back on.On the plus side, I do think this may have helped with cooling because but there was a week or two recently where the temperatures were in the high 90s and in the past with out old mattress we would have traditionally woken up hot in the middle of the night. We heard that a foam mattress can be very warm, but with this topper I never experienced that. I'll need to sleep with it in warmer weather again to really be able to compare to before/after but beyond that, I have known from past experiences loving bamboo fabrics, that it does help deflect heat.
