I bought another pair of running socks for $17 (Swiftwick) that I didn't like as much as these. Both offer good cushioning, but the other pair's supposedly near-seamless toe box is still very rubbery. I don't feel these Smartwools it seems. There is a special elastic in the middle of the sock that wraps snugly around your foot to keep the socks from moving, which helps a lot as the extra padded heel and toe areas slide a bit in the shoe. They're a little more expensive than the benefit I get from them compared to my $4 socks, but I think I'd buy them again for my high-impact athletic socks.
