This product works (only) with host computers that support Display Port Alternate Mode (Alt Mode). Docking is that this requires that your USB port is already capable of sending DisplayPort video data to this adapter. So if you only have a basic USB 3.1/USB C "USB Data Only" connection, you will not be able to display on the video outputs of this product. I wouldn't like to, that this important usage scenario/compatibility requirement information was not listed in the product description at all. I ended up having to download the PDF manual and go through many pages to find the answer to my #1 question on the subject. All products like this on the website should be listed as USB 3/USB C Docks with Alternate Mode Display Port, not just USB 3/USB C Docks as there are MANY and probably most USB ports on PCs, the Display Port don't support Alternate Mode. And there are many docks/adapters that do not require the host computer to support USB with DisplayPort Alternate Mode, as these other dock models really only contain a chip based on USB technology like some from Displaylink. that produce Displayport or HDMI outputs. only from the main USB input.
