Brief info about me: 1.) Extremely sensitive teeth 2.) Fragile gums that improve after daily flossing 3.) Using custom dental impressions 4.) 7+ years of using Watts Power5.) Average whitening time 15 - 20 Minute tip no. 1: Don't overfill! Judging by the reviews, it's not surprising that the gel is strong and it's designed to whiten bones, so it's strong. I usually create a small gel line over the mold of the teeth, a thin line that is centered and does not "fill" every space of the tooth in the mold. Do not create a gel line from the last tooth in the impression, start with the second to last tooth to ensure the gel does not seep past the molars. With every teeth whitening gel I have experienced drastic gum whitening and increased tooth sensitivity when mold has spilled over. . The molds I use have lasted almost a decade but they don't fit very well so excess gel can burn my gums or get in my mouth. I suggest the "drooling" method, where you accumulate extra saliva and empty your mouth as you bleach. Oddly enough, swallowing a large amount may cause nausea (sensible stomach). This is reminiscent of when you had mouth ulcers and needed to use a topical ointment in your mouth - usually keep the area as dry as possible to get the full effect. -20 minutes if it has been more than a few months since I whitened my teeth. I don't suggest doing the full 60 minutes the first time. I also suggest that you brush your teeth lightly with water after use to ensure there is no gel on your teeth. If I'm desperate I schedule a 45 minute whitening session but I might get a bit sensitive after that but I won't be whitening my teeth again for a few months which saves time. You can better gauge your reaction by testing different durations. Tip #4: Remove it if it starts to hurt after 3 minutes. My experience is that the longer you leave the gel on, the more likely you are to experience a "burn", so if you experience any discomfort 3 minutes after putting the gel in your mouth, I advise you to take it out. The reason may be that you have overfilled the mold and there is too much of it, or your overall reaction to the ingredients is poor. Overall this product is amazing and I would highly recommend Watts over Crest or any other trending whitening kit. Please also make an individual dental impression, it is sent down from God, and if you grind your teeth at night, you have two uses for the impression. I do not use the supplied mineral gel. It's tasty and leaves a fresh mouthfeel, but I haven't really noticed much benefit from it. I use fluoride free toothpaste and it has helped me a lot. Happy bleaching!
