The bottom of the glass test tube is too small

The hydrometer and the glass test tube were good. The test tube did not fit in the socket. I nearly broke the test tube after inserting it into the base. He would only go 3/4 of the way and would love to push it back. The inside diameter of the base was 1-1/8 inch and the inside diameter of the jar was 1-1/4 inch. I was able to fix it using a 1-1/4" hole saw to remove enough plastic to fit.
