Review on ๐Ÿ’ก Enhanced MRBF Surface and Terminal Mount Fuse Blocks by Blue Sea Systems by Phillip Brown

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This product should be the benchmark. Great!

This fuse system - Marine Battery Fuses (MRBF) - was originally developed for boats and marine environments, but is extremely useful in any high current battery environment such as automotive or solar power systems. The product makes so much sense that I don't understand why it's not a standard. Most high current battery fuses require a wire from the battery terminal to the fuse box and then from the fuse box to the rest of the circuit. Very bulky. Also, the cable that goes from the battery to the fuse box is not itself fused and can cause a short circuit! This fuse box connects directly to the battery terminal itself, eliminating the exposed wire and supporting the fuse box so it doesn't just float in the air. It can protect two different circuits, each with its own current rating requirements. And it does so in a nice, tight little package that puts all other fuse blocks to shame. The 5/16" studs are nice and long so they can accommodate thick spade lugs for heavy-duty cables. The block itself can be fitted with standard 5/16" or 3/8" screws. MRBF fuses are harder to come by. than other types, but they're inexpensive and on par with competing high-current fuse schemes like ANL and Class T. Note, however, that the MRBF only works up to 300A - perhaps the only real downside. a logical step to offer three and even four circuit fuse terminal blocks. To avoid unnecessary height (or length), they could simply be rotated at right angles. Let's definitely hope that this innovative system will remain available in the future.
