Review on ๐Ÿชก Wm. Smith & Son 5-pack of Sailmakers' Needles #13-19 by Lori Aguirre

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Wow, they won't break

After breaking some large eye needles trying to weave artificial flower arrangements, I decided to stock up on heavy needles. I've gone through all the usual suspects, trying to find a pack that didn't have round needles, or that had more than one with a sharp triangular end, or that didn't have horrible reviews stating the needle broke after using it once it popped up on. Worth a try. They are really strong and the tip is very sharp. I use them to make holes in "silk" flowers, plastic stems and leaves, then I just thread the wire through the hole. For the first time I could stick the tip of the needle where I wanted to make a hole, turn it over and put a flower on the needle to make a hole. I had thick cardboard under my eye and no problems with the needle at all. I didn't even need pliers to remove them, even with severe (and obviously improper) force on the eye. So easy that I was able to complete everything in an hour, whereas last night I struggled for several hours, breaking a few pins, crushing a flower or two and only making 2 small flowers to show my efforts. Expensive? Not when you consider other packs of big-eared sharp needles, where maybe one or two could do the job, but the eye doesn't have the power these have and they snap. If you really need a strong, sharp needle with a big eye then this is a good choice.

These are some beefy needles with some serious piercing power. Love the tapered design.
