Great value for money. I keep them in my kitty litter to collect dust. Unfortunately, carbon filters do not allow you to close the device. I've tried hot glue but it's thick and the charcoal will foul the filter. This in turn (I suspect) makes the filter gray. This in turn creates a chemical smell similar to an ashtray in the living room. No white cigarettes, but definitely ashy ones. Without a pre-filter they are excellent. Unfortunately, without a pre-filter, they do not reduce the smell. They catch dust and other particles in the air. What I really wish I had were clear dusters that I could put on and take off. This is what Winix offers for its HR900 series. It perfectly collects dander and dust. They are similar to dryer sheets but without the fabric softener and chemicals. A simple single ply sheet that you stick to the front (there is glue around the edge) and peel off each month.
