Review on 🧡 The Beadsmith Mini Macrame Board, 11.5 x 15.5 inches: Perfect Tool for Macrame and Knotting Creations with Instructions Included by Jennifer Roberts

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It was an impulse purchase that I'm actually happy with.

I did a lot of macrame in college (20 years ago) and recently decided to start again. I don't have a good work surface right now, but I saw a macrame board in a book and thought this is just what I need. So I ordered it and am very happy with it. (For the record, I mostly just make jewelry, and that's definitely enough for bracelets and necklaces.) Mine didn't smell when I took it out of the box. Maybe he was a little older or the manufacturing technology has changed. The material itself was in any case in good condition. I've always preferred duct tape to a needle, and masking tape stuck to it pretty well. I've used it as a pincushion for a needle that I've used intermittently and I don't even see any traces of it, so I'm happy with the self-healing aspect. When I ordered this I didn't think I would use a measuring grid but turns out I did and found it quite handy. Much easier and faster than drawing a ruler. I also love the grooves on the edge. They are perfect for holding the thinner cords you use to make jewelry. I didn't really need them for my first few projects (about 4 strands and no complicated pattern), but I tried them and found them to be comfortable to the touch. It's a decent size to hold on your lap, although you might want to rest the other end against a table or desk. It's light and about half an inch thick, plus it's stiff (with a slight slant). It appears to have a non-slip surface, which is nice. Although I've never heard of a macrame board, I'm now a huge fan of this thing and will use it often.
