If older vehicles are retrofitted to use LEDs in turn signals, these terminators MUST HAVE! The flashers in most older vehicles are of the HEAT LOAD DEPENDENT type. This means they have to "see" the specific consumption of the amp to make the turn signal "blink slowly" like the factory bulbs did. LEDs use significantly less power and don't allow the turn signal to "warm up" enough to flash at a slower constant rate, hence the "hyper flashing" you get without the pull-up resistor. On some older vehicles, the indicator can be inexpensively replaced with an LED-compatible electronic unit even without terminating resistors. My 2004 GMC Envoy XUV didn't have a compatible turn signal, so the terminators sufficed! They simply connect to the wires that power the turn signal bulbs in each of the front and tail lights. A word of caution. These resistors get HOT! So make sure they are installed away from any plastic as the plastic will melt! Screwing them to some metal is recommended to dissipate heat, but I just popped them into the gap in my metal wings and they were fine. The resistor housings are finned aluminum housing which is a great 'radio pick-off' and mine turned out great! Now when I'm in traffic and I see someone who has LEDs installed and the turn signals "hyperblink", I just laugh because they look really bad. I'm going to tell them about terminators and they usually don't want to bother solving the problem, well.
