You know those totally unnecessary items but you see them and fall in love and live happily ever after with your random kitsch thing? It's the thing. I saw this egg cooker on a buzzfeed list and even though I'm a grown adult who has never had a problem boiling eggs in my life, I knew I had to have one. I was not disappointed. It makes extra nice, perfectly round omelettes with minimal peeling. Hard and soft-boiled eggs cook evenly and taste great. Poached eggs are tender and melt in your mouth on toast. I believe the water needed to boil eggs (hence the time) is based on room temperature eggs since they are stored in countries outside of the US. If you're storing eggs in the refrigerator, add about a third of the water as they cook. As mentioned in other reviews, the timer alarm is LOUD. For example, imagine a fire alarm mixed with the signal of an incoming nuclear missile, but make it about 12 times louder. It can't be turned off, so get ready to muffle it with cotton and tape if you want to save your ears. This is the perfect kitchen gadget. I smile from ear to ear every time I use it.
