How hard is it to make a decent toaster? I checked many "professional" reviews, but their results differed significantly from real consumer reviews. I prefer consumer reviews that focus on 1 and 2 stars and look for ongoing issues. At the time of purchase, this device was rated 8% with 1 star and 4% with 2 stars. In general, I avoid products with more than 10% 1+2 star ratings, but 20%, 30% and more bad ratings are not uncommon at Toaster Villa. FYI - I get the left side for gluten toast and my wife gets the right side for gluten free. The unit looked normal out of the box. The directions said to choose 3-4 for medium toasts, so my first try was 3-1/2. Burned on both sides. I lowered it to 2 and it was a bit darker than I would have liked but not too bad. I scaled it down a bit. Problem 1 - uneven browning from top to bottom, left to right and on each side. But it was fried, and I figured I could live with that. That's why I toasted a piece of gluten-free bread for my wife today. Problem 2. He roasted one side but not the other. I'm sending it back. With all this great technology, nobody makes a really good toaster at a decent price? For real?
