Review on Renewed Apple iPhone XS US Version in Gold, 64GB with AT&T by Vinay Upadia ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not a bad product, quite normal quality.

It is worth noting that this is my first iPhone (not counting my son's iPhone xr, which was purchased a few months earlier for his specific medical purposes). Previously, I always used smartphones on the Android platform of the middle price category ($250-500). What prompted me to switch to iPhone was the fact that each subsequent smartphone served me faithfully for 1-1.5 years until the moment when the freezes and extremely slow operation of the smartphone began. At the same time, all the standard ways to speed up the work (expanding the memory / cleaning the phone of any rubbish in different ways / rolling back to the factory settings) had an extremely short effect (if they had any at all). At the same time, all the owners of apple gadgets almost unanimously assured me that there is no such thing in their devices even after 3-4 years, despite even the scandal and the recognition of Apple itself. In general, I decided that until you try, you will not know and bought this model. I've been using it for almost 2 months. I admit that most of the shortcomings noted are actually related to my illiteracy and will readily accept any constructive educational program. I will be able to form my final conclusion regarding this smartphone only in a couple of years, when I understand whether the main goal will be achieved. In the meantime, as an intermediate choice, I can say that the gadget is rather controversial for my taste, given the price.

Pros
  • 1. Well, for now, everything, of course, flies. Not a hint of slowdown / freeze, everything is very smooth and fast. So far, I really get high from this, but I admit that it was about the same in the first months on cheaper Androids. Everything will depend on the duration of such work. Therefore, this plus is rather an advance. 2. Excellent camera (compared to my previous models). Although now very cool cameras and software are installed on modern smartphones (I saw pictures from huawei p30 pro - very cool). Subjectively, I really like how hdr works. The video is amazing too. 3. Great sound. And the whole thing - both in multimedia and in conversational dynamics. 4. Chic appearance (I'm talking about space gray). Laconic, stylish, looks very solid. 5. Good cellular reception and 4g. 6. Cool wifi receiver, other things being equal, the speed is higher than on all my other gadgets 7. Close to ideal dimensions - on the one hand, the screen is really large due to a decent usable area. On the other hand, you can control with one hand, this is a prerequisite for me. On xr, you already have to attract a second hand. 8. Execution of face id. In general, face id is a rather controversial moment for me. Probably, I would still prefer touch id due to the fact that I like to use the navigator in the car with the phone in a horizontal position, which, unfortunately, face id does not allow. However, in the vertical position, it works almost perfectly, there is something to compare. 9. Well executed software. First, the already pre-installed apps are pretty good. Secondly, applications for the iPhone are made in most cases in a more interesting style. 10. In general, the control on iOS turned out to be quite user-friendly and the transition to it from Android was almost painless, I expected the worst. 11. E-sim - I have never used it, but I suspect it is a handy thing when traveling.
Cons
  • 1. Subjectively - oled screen. I never really liked them and the iPhone was no exception. For my taste, it is a little yellow and without any TrueTone. And in general, a little strange color rendition. Played with the settings, but could only find the least uncomfortable ones. White is still yellowish. At the same time, when viewed from an angle, the color temperature changes to a colder and more pleasant. But you will not look at the smartphone at an angle. I have always been more familiar with ips-matrices with their cold color reproduction and normal white color. I compare it with the same xr - and I understand that I like its screen much more (I didn’t take it myself mainly because of the size). Although yes - the black color of the oleda is a little more black. But for me it is not as important as color reproduction in general. But in fairness, it is worth noting the moment that the eyes do not get tired at all. 2. Battery capacity. 2650 mAh, even despite all the manufacturability of the iPhone - unfortunately, stupidly small. The phone is hardly enough for a day with an average use of an iPhone, in the evening you often have to recharge. For a 50k+ phone, this, in my opinion, is simply unacceptable. My old huawei nova after 2 years of use showed better autonomy than the new iPhone. No gate. I'm thinking of buying a small external battery. 3. The inability to expand physical memory in standard ways. 4. Very mediocre performance of the "WiFi Help" function. A similar feature on Android switches between networks much more confidently and in a timely manner. 5. Some completely clumsy volume control. Linking the volume of the alarm clock to the volume of the call looks especially strange. On androids, in this sense, everything is clear - you pressed the volume key, unfolded the menu and in front of you are 4 independent volume control units. 6. The charger out of the box is just a facepalm. I can’t remember the last time I used such a slow charge. I had to buy a separate charger for 12 watts. At this price of the phone - it's just bad manners.
