UPDATE ON THIS PREVIOUS REVIEW: I can now confirm that this unit is nonsense. Independent testing has shown that even with an external 9VDC power supply, the output voltage is far from specification in all three areas. Even at 1000 VDC, the device does not reach 500 VDC across the 1 MΞ© resistor - plausibility check. DO NOT BUY ANYONE. Well I bought this unit because my old "megger" megger was said to not meet New Zealand electrical standards as the test voltage must be at or above 500VDC. After receiving and testing the device, it proved to be fairly accurate as far as actual resistance measurement with various carbon megohm resistors. HOWEVER - when I put my Victor VC890C+ multimeter on the resistor to be tested, I found that the test voltages are 250V - 222V, 500V - 322V and 1000V - 627V. In fact, within a few minutes, the readings are displayed again and changed to 209, 405 and 443 respectively. The polarity also seems to be the opposite of what you might expect, with the connector showing "E" + voltage. In fact, the test voltages change almost every time I press the test button. No load output voltages are 236V, 485V and 939V - above and within specified test voltage +/- tolerances. Is my test method, i.e. using a DMM to read the output test voltages, wrong?
