When we ride a motorcycle, we never know when we'll park on chat, rock, hot pavement, dirt or any other surface that could damage our bike . unstable. We recently went to a small restaurant and they had a lot of loose rocks in the parking lot so we used one of our new footpegs and the bike was fine. It might have been fine without the plate, but it gave us peace of mind that the bike's weight is distributed over a slightly larger area than just the footpeg itself. We keep a spare in a bag to offer to another rider in case they need it and don't have it.
