I wasn't expecting the fan/stand to be so well made. I used to have two Targus fans and another fan from another manufacturer. All my fans are over $40 making this fan a steal. My Targus crashed and my laptop actually shut itself down multiple times due to CPU overheating. My computer runs i5 and has had an SSD for a few years. Gets very hot when playing videos or when multiple apps are open. My biggest complaint about Targus was the poor performance. Both models had dual fans, but that position wasn't ideal for my Fujitsu laptop. The fans couldn't move much air compared to this new fan. Actually, it's like day and night. I can really feel the air escaping the sides of the laptop. I also use a monitor that records the temperature, is it a free HW monitor or something. My laptop temperature was 10-25 degrees cooler. WOW, all I can say is if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I would never have believed the numbers. Now that my computer is running cool, it's running much better. I noticed a huge drop in performance when the laptop was hot. In fact, it would be hot to touch the keys. I should mention that there is a vacuum fan next to my computer's air vent that sucks in air. This way, I got cold air, which enters from below and is pulled out through the CPU cooling hole on the side next to the power supply connector. This combination works great with the new ice pad and doesn't work well with Targus ice pads. I am a very satisfied and happy customer. I've only had it a week so can't comment on its reliability, but my PC runs 24/7 and this fan is set to max. I should also note that there is virtually no noise. The side suction fan can be noisy, but it's hard to tell that the fans have turned on without seeing the blue LEDs. I look at the different models and buy the one that I hope works well.
