Cable missing for my 2002 Miata with Bose

I used this on a 2002 Mazda Miata with a Bose OEM system and the power antenna cable was not wired. I'm not sure if this was a development oversight or just a one off issue with what I got. I wouldn't be surprised if the amp turn-on wire is the antenna wire on non-Bose vehicles. Luckily I had a wiring harness lying around from an old car that I was able to pull the pin/wire out of. I found an OEM radio pinout online and added the pin in the correct position. I connected a new wire to the amp's power-up wire. I also added a toggle switch so I can lower the antenna when using a source other than the actual radio. Update: I also found that auto dimming is not possible with this seat belt in my situation. Miata has a strange interior lighting system. Connecting 2 lighting wires together will give you auto dimming for the stereo BUT it will damage your master dimmer switch OR blow the TAIL FUSE resulting in no interior lights on the instrument cluster and HVAC controls and no tail. the lights. Plugging in *either* of the two lighting wires won't damage the switch or blow the fuse, but auto-dimming won't work on the stereo. I ended up separating them both and leaving them sealed at the end to protect them from short circuits. The auto dimming is good, but the cluster lighting and taillights are nicer :) I'm not dismissing the wiring harness for this because I think this is entirely due to how Mazda designed the lighting scheme.

Pros
  • Not compatible with factory amplifier systems
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
