Heavy duty and easy to assemble

We have a 3 bike rack and needed a 4 bike rack. We were looking and settled on this one because of the price and how similar it works to our current rack. .This rack is made of heavy duty steel and will last a long time when attached to our van. Since the weight limit is 140lbs we didn't have to worry about hitching 4 bikes to it and cruising down the freeway at high speed. Even when driving fast, it doesn't move compared to our current bike rack and looks unstable. When looking for a luggage rack, we also needed one that folds down so we can access our trunk. This stand can be detached and tilted at an angle of 45 degrees. NOTE: With our current stance, releasing to tilt is just one step - we just pull the lever and the stance tilts back. This pose requires an extra step - first you need to remove the locking mechanism, and then pull the lever to tilt. The two steps aren't really important, but just something to keep in mind if you're looking for a quick release. The straps holding the bike are thick and comparable to our other carriers. It locks the bike in place with no problems. When the tripod is not in use, the double arms can be folded down to save space. This means the trunk can be left on for convenience and does not have to be removed for every use. All in all, this bike rack is built for heavy use and meets our needs for transporting 4 bikes. The only downside we noticed after installing it is that there is no locking mechanism to prevent someone removing the rack from our van. Our other counter has it, so it puts our minds at ease. It might be something we missed so we need to double check. But so far we haven't had a problem with it when we took our bikes to the beach or on the trail.
