Don't suck! - Earbuds

Wow! It doesn't suck. In the context of the ultra crap niche market for MMCX Bluetooth adapter cables, that's really high praise. I was hesitant to buy this one as the reviews for its predecessor (MEE Audio BTX1 Bluetooth, MMCX Universal Wireless Adapter Cable with Qualcomm aptX Technology, Microphone and Remote Control (Black)) are terrible. However, I'm relieved to report that they actually work as advertised. They're light, relatively comfortable, don't tangle, and sound a lot better than I expected. I haven't had any latency issues when playing music or making calls. I can't really fault the battery life as the ubiquitous and ridiculous Apple AirPods only offer 5 hours of playback (despite the extremely misleading retail copy). Due to their popularity, they seem to be the benchmark for Bluetooth headphones, so 8 hours of battery life is relatively high. What I see as the main disadvantages: 1) The microphone picks up EVERYTHING around you. Good luck on the phone when you are outside near traffic/other people. I've had people tell me they can hear "everybody but me". 2) Having two relatively heavy battery compartments on a short light cord creates uncomfortable ergonomics. The left side in particular always feels like a tug of war against my ear. 3) The three buttons are almost indistinguishable by touch. They are all about the same size and shape. The center button is the most important and should be a different size and shape for ease of use. But these are all relatively minor sins; This cable offers good sound quality, full remote compatibility with my phone (iOS) and decent battery life, so I have no hesitation in recommending it. I've also worn it in the rain and it hasn't ripped, so that's a nice bonus. One caveat: I usually stream Spotify in "extreme" quality. This turned out to be a bad match for BTX1, which missed every time the stream needed to be buffered, which was a common occurrence. I changed the streaming quality setting to "Automatic" and everything is fine.
