I've been looking to no avail for a WALL BOX MOUNTED universal remote to easily turn the fan and light on and off when entering or exiting a room, to be used in addition to wireless remote control. which came with a fan. It's not like this. To do this, it must be physically connected to the fan, although it advertises itself as a wireless remote control. It also requires adjusting four microswitches to match the frequency of the fan's wireless receiver, but neither my fan nor the included remote have microswitches (there's a single "learn" button on the remote instead). I spent an hour going through all the possible DIP switch settings in case any of the settings might match the fan speed, but I couldn't even get the red LED on the unit to light up, and yes I wired it up correctly and even played around with it, just in case. Either I have a defective device, or rather it's just not compatible with my fan model. This device can work with a narrow range of compatible fans, but it is not universal. .
