I don't know how other similar products work but I know I will not buy this product again. Cons: 1. The sieve is not thin enough, I get a lot of dregs even though I grind as much as my coffee grinder will allow. Simply turning the sieve with the coffee inside turns its entire surface brown. The cap is the biggest disappointment. At first I thought if the cap handle points to the spout, the cap is closed - WRONG. You can and should turn it about a quarter turn more. I discovered this the hard way after storing it horizontally several times. One day I woke up to find that the fridge tray was littered with coffee. The lid also claims to allow a half turn to open the spout, but flow is extremely limited that way.3. The strainer needs to be screwed into the lid, which means you'd better have 3 hands if you want to pour the grind water straight from the tap into the pitcher.4. The jug is very fragile. The fifth time I used it, it fell onto my counter when I put it there after taking it out of the fridge to remove the filter. I didn't drop it, I just laid it down with all the fitness I was capable of and held a full jar of about 8 pounds in my hands. Rough waking up with a full pitcher of glass and coffee on me and in my kitchen is one way to wake me up.
