Good system, terrible cables!

The system arrived well packaged and on time. After connecting the NVR and doing the initial setup, I was impressed with the features available on the device and how easy it was to connect the Zosi app to my new NVR. However, I would like to start off the next part with the fact that I have been working in IT for almost 20 years. I've installed dozens of video surveillance systems and laid thousands of network cables. So you can trust me when I say the "network" cables that come with this system are rubbish. These are not Category 5 (Cat5) cables. The cables have only two pairs of wires, as opposed to Cat5 cables, which have 4 pairs (according to TIA/EIA industry standards). It just means these are the cheapest cables that you can buy. since they only have 2 pairs (4 separate copper wires) inside the plastic sheath. To make matters worse, the cables are wound in such a tight spiral (100 feet of cable wrapped in a 4-inch circle) that it is impossible to remove the spools from the cables. I spent an hour trying to remove all the kinks and twists from one of the 100 foot cables. No dice, I almost lost my mind. So if you are tech savvy I would suggest buying a Cat5 box and some RJ45 connectors, borrowing someone else's Cat5/6 termination tool and fabricating your own cables to the required length. Or, if you can't, buy and use trusted Cat5 cables from a reputable manufacturer. I have serious doubts that the included cables will be of much use to anyone unless you only need 15-20 feet. Aside from nearly ending up in jail for messing with cables, setting up my quad camera system was a breeze. Power Over Ethernet (PoE) makes things easy and you can place the cameras anywhere as you don't need an outlet nearby. Take your time, read the instructions and you will surely like the system.
