Review on DEWALT DWASHRIR Impact Shears Attachment by Rod Evans

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Should have bought Power Scissors

I'm rating this one star because the product information is intentionally misleading. I figured why buy another power tool when I can just use one of the many power drills I have. lie around. Unfortunately, these shears only work with certain types of drill bits and Dewalt does not provide enough information on how to attach this drill bit for you to check compatibility before purchasing. This doesn't work with my Worx laptop, for example. This doesn't work with my ryobi wire. My Dewalt drywall drill is not working. It won't work with any drill I've ever seen. If I could return it I would buy something else. I could provide the exact dimensions of the clip but I will not help sell these scissors, sorry. The photos are intentionally misleading. The bracket you see in the picture should be attached to the bottom of the drill. I don't think this will work except on some types of hand drills with some kind of handle base and battery. Without juggling words, the shackle is too short/long and/or the clamp is too narrow/wide to fit most types of drills I know. And the strut and clip are plastic, so you can't adjust them without damaging them completely. Luckily or unfortunately I have a B&D drill that I bought a while ago just for batteries and was planning to sell, but the style of this drill works reasonably well with these scissors. So I didn't completely throw away the $40, but now I have another drill that I won't be using most of the time, so I'd be better off getting some electric shears. But while it works to an extent, it's not a corded drill, so it's not powerful enough for most of the tasks I need it for. BTW the clip on the adjustment bracket slides up and down but there is no screw on the rail to hold it in place. The only thing holding the strut and slider to the base of the drill is the clamp itself. Looks pretty idiotic. If it fails to snap onto the base of the drill, it will come loose and the scissor head will spin, messing up your cut. How well does it cut? After some practice on 26 gauge I got pretty good straight cuts. Sort of like using metal scissors. However, it didn't work "like clockwork" and one should start with a good cut on flat metal. Also, my cuts on Amazon didn't look like fake photos. And someone said you can make 90 degree cuts. I want to watch a video about it because I don't know how it's possible without bending and deforming the sheet metal. In addition, dewalt claims that you can adjust the opening of the blades. No, no and NO. The gap in the section cannot be changed. What the adjustment screw does is change the tension on the two blades. I'm new to this so I'm not exactly sure how you use this, but I suspect it's important depending on the thickness of the pieces you're trying to cut. Since this only works with laptops, there is another downside, because well. You won't be able to mount a drill press on a table and use a continuous feed unless you can find a way to make the drill run continuously. That said, I've never seen a portable drill with a "next" button like a corded drill.
