Review on πŸ‘• Oliver Mil-Tec in Large Size by Mark Patterson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good quality; good performance; annoying hooks

This New Yorker has been using this backpack as a carry-anywhere, anytime bag for about a month. So far, I am very satisfied. The overall construction feels solid, the weight is good, and the capacity and organization is perfect for my needs. One issue is the durability of the plastic fasteners (belt buckle, shoulder D-rings, strap adjusters). Time will tell if the belt buckle will hold if accidentally bumped. One complaint is that the flat pocket in the largest compartment is stretch mesh. This makes it impractical for loose papers, manila folders, or envelopes (they snag recklessly), which are the items it should be most useful for. MOLLE straps on the shoulders are particularly useful for me. I have attached a Hazard 4 Mil Iwallet with Carabiner 2 in 1 Wallet/Phone Case Black and it works great. I managed to attach it to a spot that was easily accessible (and visible!) with the backpack, didn't get in the way all the time, and would resist well to a passing thief ripping it off. This completely offsets any concerns about the bulkiness of the wallet itself. Thanks to both providers. Speaking of the manufacturer, I can't say exactly where this backpack was made. I know some Mil-Tec products are made in China but the only country mentioned anywhere on the box or label was Germany where Mil-Tec is headquartered.

Pros
  • price
Cons
  • dubious purchase for the elderly
