Review on CKL Monitor DisplayPort Computers Monitors by Matt Conner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Poor quality and time consuming to set up

Adjusted the work with difficulty. When it worked, I was very annoyed that it didn't use the keepalive signal to tell the PC that the monitor was still connected when switching. I have a monitor that I don't want to switch, and every time I switch from that computer, all my windows move to a small touchscreen monitor. Since the keyboard and mouse switching ports don't support my wireless mouse (and presumably my future wireless keyboard), I get a beep on USB disconnect every time I switch inputs. For those two reasons alone, I'll probably return it and try a different brand. Just an unacceptable level of performance. Well, for those who might be wondering if this will work with the 49-inch AOC ultra-wide, the answer is yes. It took me a few tries to even get it to work and I had already processed the RMA thinking it was defective before I tried one last time and it worked. For those in the same boat or with a similar monitor, here's what I found: I set my computer to display 5k at 60Hz as I think 5120 x 1440 is a lower resolution bandwidth than those supported 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz. I wouldn't get any pictures at all. I've tried different resolutions on this monitor, all at 60Hz. Interestingly, I've found that I can actually use the full resolution at 5120 x 1440 on both of my computers, but only at 70Hz or 75Hz. It took a lot of fiddling trying to figure this out and get it to "work" but Windows keeps wanting to revert it back to 5k120 or 5k60 for random reasons. Connect the monitor directly to reset the setting and reconnect to KVM. I'm giving it 2 stars because it works and some of my issues may be related to the 49" ultrawide 5k, but despite that I still hate disconnecting USB/DP every time I switch sources.

Pros
  • Not only useful for its intended purpose
Cons
  • There are flaws
