I ordered this product exclusively to create the base for the 28mm scale tabletop miniatures (Reaper Bones, Dark Heaven and Pathfinder), that I created for use in role-playing games. Games like Hero Quest. All it takes is an exacto knife to remove the bottom (leaving only a flat plastic top). Then paint with water-based acrylics (available at stores like Hobby Lobby and Wal-Mart, much cheaper than professional grade acrylics at game stores and 99% as good a touch. It takes about two coats to paint completely. Then apply a brush on top with Dura-Clear Satin Paint and let dry. Done! These new bases are perfect for the small "squares" on the Hero Quest board. For the larger miniatures (ogres etc.) I use 25x25mm bases. This product can also its useful for other crafts like making your own miniature travel chess board.
