I bought this unit hoping to use my new iPod 5th Gen as a Digital Lecture Recorder but found it didn't live up to my expectations. The brilliant man at Apple told me that after creating "voice notes" that couldn't be transferred to a computer and were partially unusable, the notes couldn't be recorded for more than 20 minutes or the file would start to grow deteriorate. So I started stopping the recording after 20 minutes or less and I was still having problems with about 30% of the files being partially corrupted and most of them couldn't be transferred to my computer. My second visit to the Genius bar was turned down and advised to buy a real digital voice recorder and just use my iPod for music. I try to be a good Apple customer but sometimes it's so hard. I was also referred to ExtremeMac. I am also interested there. but without much optimism. I think the advice I got today is to get a voice recorder.
