Since our water isn't chlorinated, we bought these thinking they would help remove mold and edge stains from our toilets. We really haven't found them to be that effective at preventing mold growth in the toilet. However, they provide a pleasant smell and preserve the blue color of the water. They start slow with very little color until well saturated where they last about a month. (There are two adults in the house, so the family doesn't use it very much.) Then, towards the end of her life, the water really turns blue. So I decided to try something with these hangars. I don't want to add chlorine to the tank as it has a very strong effect on equipment, plastics, etc. I took some pool chlorine tablets and put them in the basket hanger and now they are hanging on the inside rim of the toilet. It works GREAT. There is no more mold, stains, etc. in the bowl.
