If you want them just to go shopping they might be ok. I'm a hiker who does more than three miles a day. The problem with them is that they are very tight so I went up a half size like I always do with sneakers. The problem isn't the width. I have a narrow foot and have never had to buy large sizes. This is the distance between the canvas upper and the sole. If you have pancake feet, you might like that feeling. They literally crush your legs from top to bottom behind your toes and arch of your feet. I'll try them without socks to see if that helps.
