Good in many ways - just don't trust the

Used on D610** Update - new device started to become unstable and finally won't start my camera - about 1.5 months. Focus seems to have worked, VR on, but there's no trigger. Thought it must be the camera from the first incident. I tried it on a friend's camera and the same thing. The lens focuses but does not release. New batteries didn't help. I tried to contact RainbowImaging through their website but the form was not accepted. Then I used their email and got a response within 45 minutes. It was at 9pm! Everything looked fine so I sent it back. Now they have a one week timer (starting February 22, 2014) and no more communication from them even though I requested an update. I will update this when/if I hear from you. I saw three reviews online all talking about the same problem. **** Update 2 - Contacted Rainbow two more times with no response. Contacted Revain (05/03/14) and they will take care of me with a choice of replacement or refund. Instead I bought a stupid Vello trigger from B&H where I know I can get someone. 5 stars to Revain for taking on something that shouldn't have been their problem. ****Update 3 - (10/03/14) Unexpectedly received a new timer from RainbowImaging. It was sent on 4/3/14. It would have saved time contacting Revain if someone at Rainbow had been kind enough to simply reply to an email that they would be replacing him. The lesson is to buy non-branded camera gear at commodity stores from now on. Oh, that and the stupid Vello trigger work. ** How: Power button Works great in lamp mode - haven't tried any others. Easy setup. 2 AAA batteries. You can turn off the beep. The instructions are very poor but it doesn't take long to figure out how to use it. The light only stays on for a few seconds. Not enough to actually make your adjustments. Neutral: I plugged it in and wrapped it around the tripod's leg and the camera was locked to a vertical shot. I stepped back and my daughter grabbed the camera and started flipping it vertically to horizontally and shooting with the shutter button. Needless to say, she emphasized the fork. I speak neutral because most of the time the tip came from the cable, so this time because it was done a bit cheaply it may have saved the connector on the camera. I bought a new timer and everything seems to be working fine. I now have a tool strap attached to my camera. So I would make two improvements: maybe an angled connector and a longer backlight. Oh, and better leadership.

Pros
  • company. It also works as a timer remote and can be programmed to work as an intervalometer.
Cons
  • Some small things
