Review on ๐Ÿšฒ Topeak MTX Trunk Bag Dx: Organize and Carry with Water Bottle Holder by Adam Gambel

Nice bag with some limitations

Note. I had the old EX version of this bag for a while before realizing it was too small. These are the Arkel tote bag and the Ortlieb Commuter QL 3.1 bag. I use this bag when I know I don't need to bring my computer to or from work on a certain day. Pros: Good size. A change of work clothes, a large lunch, a small notebook, bike tools and a phone/keys/wallet all fit in a small space. The side pockets actually hold things on this model compared to the tiny mesh side panel on the EX version. The mount seems secure. .The reflective strips are very bright. Cons: The mesh on the top is not very useful. The water bottle holder does not hold smooth bottles well even when adjusted; I lost the wedge cantin. Adding a water bottle cage to this model removes the strap, making it easier to detach the bike. Now it's a little awkward to slide off the rack unless it's perfectly straight (my DX Supertourist rack was a bit uneven in the middle). If you have a Topeak Explorer rack or any other rack that doesn't have a lowered side rail, that thing is too wide for you to be able to use this and other traditional saddlebags at the same time. However, everything is fine with Ortlieb QL racks. Neutral: The zippers don't inspire confidence based on other reviews and viewing, but I haven't had any issues so far. Overall: Worth it for its convenience. I can feel how light my bike is when using it rather than full side bags which is nice. Ideal for day trips or day trips if you want to take your lunch with you. Some minor issues depending on what type of gear/water bottles you already own.
