What is better - Pekhorka or New Zealand Merino? This is not for you to play Vanka.

They invited me to conduct another master class on felting. And it’s easier, by dry felting from wool. Yes, yes, there is also wet felting. And I decided to share with you, my dear. Suddenly someone will be interested in this type of needlework. Since the review is about wool, it will be mainly discussed. I will answer any questions in the comments. Wool Pekhorka natural 100%. They make it in the Moscow region. It is inexpensive and is sold in any needlework store. And when I started to do felting, it was difficult to buy six in our city. Most of the time I ordered online. At that time, and this is about 5-6 years ago, my favorite store was in Bulgaria. And the wool was New Zealand merino, very thin and delicate. Let's compare these two types of wool. On the left - Pekhorka, on the right - New Zealand Merino. I think that even visually they are different. In Pekhorka there are not very well dyed hairs, it is more rigid and prickly. But it is for beginners that I advise you to study at Pekhorka. It falls off faster and easier. Not so noticeable flaws in the product. And the cost of such wool is two to three times lower. Both types of wool are natural and do not shed at all, even in hot water. They have almost the same smell. Do you know what wool smells like? Cleanliness ... I would even say a clean bath. Absolutely love this smell. Unfortunately, if you are allergic to wool, this activity is not for you. To dump some kind of product, it will take more than one hour, or rather, more than one day. The easiest way to start the basics of felting is with a ball. What we did in previous master classes. Felting needles are very sharp, you need to be extremely careful and careful. It is better for children to start at the age of seven, not earlier. And then under the supervision of adults. I conducted my first master classes with adults - teachers, psychologists. A pleasant picture is to watch how adults are happy that they get the most elementary. Many got carried away, bought all the wool in our only needlework store, and are still doing it. So what can be felt from Pekhorka and other wool? Since you started with a ball, you can make beads. You can alternate wool beads with other materials. Decorate yourself warmly and extraordinary. You can make a brooch. And you can souvenirs and toys. Next Year of the Dog. I am sure everyone will be pleased to receive a souvenir dog as a gift. But you can also make a brooch if you attach the base with a clasp. Wool is a malleable material. Something like plasticine. Each part is folded separately, then they are interconnected. Comparing the two types of wool, I want to say that for jewelry I prefer New Zealand merino. It is softer and not scratchy at all. There is no irritation on contact with the skin. The pekhorka is tougher. But great for toys. And Pekhorka is very inferior to merino in color scheme. The shades of Pekhorka are brighter, sometimes even poisonous. And the merino is pleasing to the eye. See for yourself. I like to buy wool in sets. Colors are matched harmoniously. On the eve of Halloween, I was invited to give a master class for high school students. I do not perceive this holiday, as, probably, most of my peers. But for teenagers, I think it will be more interesting to roll not just a ball, but, for example, such a souvenir for Halloween. And I add pumpkin. It remains to grind, attach the green tail and small details. And next in line are felt boots ... souvenir ones. Although, both clothes and shoes are made of wool. They make wonderful pictures. I hope the review was interesting. Buy wool, roll. This is an inexpensive and very interesting activity. Wool has not changed during five years of storage. The moth didn't even eat it. Which I am very happy about.
